Women in Philanthropy (WiP) Ghana

Women in Philanthropy Ghana (WiP Ghana) is a pioneering women-led network that brings together philanthropists, donors, and social entrepreneurs from Ghana and the diaspora who are passionate about driving meaningful change. Established through the collaborative vision of leading institutions such as the GADEF International, Centre for Strategic Philanthropy and Social Investment (CESPSI), Philanthropy Ghana, the Sarfoa Foundation, and the Women in Arts, Tourism and Hospitality (WATH) Hub, the network is anchored in a mission to empower women and strengthen their role in philanthropy and social impact. The WiP Ghana secretariat is located at TGTS Africa Ground Floor, East Legon, Accra.

At WiP Ghana, we believe that women are powerful agents of change whose collective action can reshape communities and transform lives. Our work is centered on creating an inclusive platform where women leaders can connect, collaborate, and amplify their impact. We provide opportunities for peer learning, professional development, and capacity building—equipping members with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to design and deliver sustainable solutions to Ghana’s most pressing social challenges.

Through our flagship Annual Conference—held as part of Ghana Philanthropy Week—and a variety of training workshops, networking forums, and resource mobilization efforts, WiP Ghana builds bridges between women changemakers, local communities, and global partners. We also champion gender-lens philanthropy, advocating for women’s leadership in decision-making spaces, while showcasing the inspiring stories and innovations of women philanthropists and social entrepreneurs across the country.

In essence, WiP Ghana exists to strengthen the voice, visibility, and effectiveness of women in philanthropy, ensuring that their contributions are recognized, their leadership nurtured, and their impact multiplied. Together, we are shaping a culture of giving and social investment that uplifts women, transforms communities, and creates a legacy of sustainable change for generations to come.

Our mission is to create a community of empowered women in philanthropy and social entrepreneurship, who work together to increase the impact of women-led organisations and improve the lives of women in Ghana. Through strategic partnerships, we aim to build a sustainable fund and network that supports the growth of women-led organisations and provides resources, skills training, and grants to increase their impact in their communities.

Membership

Women in Philanthropy Ghana has a vibrant and growing network of over 123 Individual members and organisations working across all 16 regions of Ghana and within the Diaspora. Our membership brings together women leaders, philanthropists, social entrepreneurs, development practitioners, academics, corporate professionals, and changemakers committed to advancing philanthropy, social impact, and community transformation.

Through collaboration, mentorship, learning, and collective action, members contribute their expertise, networks, and resources to strengthen women-led philanthropy and sustainable development initiatives in Ghana and beyond.
